The variety is a complex hybrid derived from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis vinifera, and Vitis rupestris. It is used exclusively as a rootstock in viticulture and is currently the subject of scientific research on the adaptation of vineyards to climate change.

The rootstock possesses moderate vigor and productivity. The plant exhibits moderate resistance to chlorosis and is capable of growing in soils with an active lime content of less than 15%. The primary economic purpose of the crop is to provide resistance to phylloxera and soil-borne pathogens.
