The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing Seibel 5455 and Seibel 8216. In literature, it may be found under the name Landal or Landal Noir, which sometimes creates confusion with the variety Landot Noir (Landot 4511).

It is a wine grape variety intended for creating dark-colored red wines of good quality. The plant possesses high frost resistance, withstanding temperature drops down to -30°C, however, its yield is described as inconsistent from year to year.
