Variety description

The variety is an interspecific hybrid of French selection. Its parent forms may have been Seyve-Villard 12-417 and Chancellor, or Joannès Seyve 11369 and Plantet. The variety is intended for producing dark and aromatic wines, the taste qualities of which resemble Merlot.

The plant is late-ripening, requires a long growing season, and is preferable for southern regions with a warm climate. It is distinguished by vigorous growth, high yield requiring thinning, and moderate winter hardiness down to -20°C.

The grape possesses good resistance to downy mildew and bunch rot, as well as sufficient resistance to powdery mildew. Clusters are large, dense, and sometimes prone to incomplete berry pollination.
