The variety is a hybrid of Vitis berlandieri and Vitis riparia. The vines are characterized by high growth vigor, and the male-type flowers do not produce fruit. The rootstock possesses marked resistance to the root form of phylloxera, good resistance to the nematode Meloidogyne incognita, and moderate resistance to Meloidogyne arenaria.

The plant is resistant to fungal diseases and frost. It adapts well to light, fine-earth, humus soils but shows sensitivity to dry, stony, and marly sites. The use of this rootstock promotes earlier development of grafted varieties, which accelerates the progression of the growing season.
