The variety is a hybrid of Vitis vinifera variety Chasselas and Vitis berlandieri. It is intended exclusively for use as a rootstock and is characterized by vigorous vine growth. The rootstock is capable of tolerating up to 60% total calcium carbonate content in the soil and up to 40% active lime.

The plant possesses high resistance to root phylloxera and moderate resistance to fungal diseases, while being sensitive to nematodes. The variety tolerates drought conditions, spring flooding, and high groundwater levels poorly. Bud frost resistance reaches -24°C, whereas the root system possesses low frost resistance.

Varieties grafted onto this rootstock may demonstrate a slowing of the vegetative cycle, the formation of more compact clusters, as well as increased acidity and lower sugar content in the berry juice.
