The variety is extremely old and, according to genetic studies, originated from a natural cross between the varieties Bratkovina crna and Gyöngy fehér, or from a cross between an unknown parent and the variety Visparola. It is known under a number of synonyms, including Vulpea, Pljuskavac, Blanc blauer, and Črnina kesna.

A black-berried wine variety currently at risk of extinction. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including precise ripening times and disease resistance indicators, are absent in open scientific publications and registers, as the variety is studied primarily within the framework of genetic diversity conservation.
