Variety description

The variety is mid-season, reaching maturity at the end of September or beginning of October. The clusters are of medium size and cylindrical-conical in shape. The berries are spherical, covered with a reddish-purple skin, and the pulp is juicy with characteristic aromatic notes of rose, basil, wild berries, strawberry, and peach.

A wine grape variety with a yield of 6–8 tonnes per hectare, though in individual cases the potential exceeds 10 t/ha. Sugar content at maturity reaches 250–270 g/l with an acidity of about 7.2 g/l. The variety is adapted to the conditions of northeastern Moldova but can be susceptible to major fungal grape diseases.

Intended for the production of high-quality rosé and red wines, traditionally sweet and semi-sweet, although modern practice includes dry and semi-dry variants. As part of selection work, a certified clonal selection "Busuioacă de Bohotin, clona 5 Iași" has been created.
