The Canary variety is a wine grape adapted to the volcanic soils and terraced conditions of the island of La Gomera. It is characterized as genetically unique and is used for the production of white wines with a pronounced floral profile, good acidity, and mineral nuances.

The Italian variety, grown on the island of Ischia, is a vigorous plant with an early-mid maturity group and high yield. The variety is susceptible to powdery mildew and rot, requires canopy management, and produces light white wines with notes of citrus, green apples, herbs, and almonds.

The name Forastera blanca is also used as a synonym for the Spanish variety Chelva, originating from Extremadura. All the listed varieties are autochthonous or landrace varieties that have formed as a result of natural crossing or centuries of selection.
