The variety is a product of a natural crossing of Biancolella with an unknown variety. Its name comes from a word meaning "foreign". This grape should not be confused with varieties of the same name grown in Spain or the Canary Islands, nor with the botanical genus of shrubs Forestiera.

Bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical or pyramidal, loose. Berries are medium-sized, yellow-green in color with thin skin. The variety ripens in the second half of September. It has resistance to phylloxera, however, it can be susceptible to powdery mildew and grey mold.

Wines from this grape are characterized by freshness and lightness, and their aroma contains notes of white fruits and flowers.
