The leaf of the variety is medium-sized, five-lobed. The bunch is medium-sized, dense, cylindrical or pyramidal in shape, often with wings. The berry is medium-sized, rounded, spheroidal-ellipsoid or irregular in shape, with a thick skin covered with abundant bloom, black-blue in color.
The variety is hermaphroditic, has a medium-late maturity group, and harvesting occurs at the end of September — beginning of October. It is well adapted to hot, dry climates and coastal winds, but due to early flowering, it is sensitive to spring climatic fluctuations. Yield is stable but moderate.
The grape is intended for the production of red wines. Wines are noted for a light ruby-cherry color, soft tannins, high acidity, and aromatics with notes of rose, freesia, strawberry, and other red berries. The variety is used both in varietal wines and in blends.
