The Freisamer variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing the Silvaner and Pinot Gris varieties. The variety was previously known under the name Freiburger, derived from the city of Freiburg, where its selection was carried out.
This grape belongs to the category of wine grape varieties intended for the production of full-bodied white wines. In terms of ripening time, the variety is characterized as late.
At present, the variety is considered rare. Its cultivation is carried out in limited areas, mainly in the Baden region in Germany, as well as in some Swiss regions.
