The variety is identical to the French varieties Sauvignonasse or Sauvignon vert. The leaf is rounded, weakly lobed, reticulate-wrinkled. Clusters are small or medium, cylindro-conical, often winged. Berries are small, round, white in color, with a thick waxy bloom and thin skin. The flower is hermaphroditic.
The variety matures early, is distinguished by very high yields that require thinning. It is susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and rot. It is used exclusively for winemaking. Finished wines possess good structure, with floral tones, fruit shades, and a note of bitter almond in the aftertaste dominating the aroma and flavor.
