The variety originates from Central Europe and is the result of a natural cross between Gouais blanc and Blaue Zimmettraube. The vine is vigorous. Clusters are medium-sized, conical, and medium-dense or dense. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue in color, with thick skin and juicy flesh.

In cultivation regions, the variety requires attention to agronomic practices, as flower drop may occur during cool weather at bloom. Wines made from it are characterized by deep color, high acidity, pronounced tannins, and aromas of cherry, blackberry, plum, and black pepper.
