The variety is a historical folk autochthon of Mallorca, genetically close to the Giró Ros variety. The vines reach maturity early, around August 25 in the conditions of the Balearic Islands. The yield of old vines is characterized as very low.
The grapes are intended exclusively for winemaking. Wines made from it possess aromas of red berries, spices, and balsamic notes, and have medium acidity, soft tannins, and medium or below-medium body.
The variety should not be confused with other grape cultures having similar names in other regions, including Italian varieties of the Negrara group.
