The variety has Spanish roots and is autochthonous to the Alicante region; it is also cultivated in Sardinia. It belongs to the category of wine grape varieties and is used both for creating varietal wines and in blends.
Morphologically, the variety is characterized by thin berry skin. Agronomic characteristics are limited by the presence of noticeable natural acidity. Information regarding maturity group, agrotechnical requirements, and disease resistance is absent in open sources.
In official registers, the variety is designated with the index N, which indicates the dark color of the berries. It should be distinguished from the rare white variety Giro Ros.
