The variety is autochthonous to the southwest of France, with its cultivation history traceable to the 16th century. The plant is characterized by moderate to high vigor and hermaphroditic flowers. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed, and slightly lobed. The bunch is medium-sized, conical, and medium-dense or dense. The berries are greenish-white, medium-sized, with skin of medium thickness and a waxy bloom.
The variety belongs to the late maturity group, with above-average yields that consistently exceed those of the Petit Manseng variety. It has relative resistance to grey mold (Botrytis cinerea), but is susceptible to downy mildew. Wines from this grape are characterized by structure and an aromatic profile with notes of quince, apricot, and exotic fruits.
