The variety belongs to the Vitis vinifera species and is intended for winemaking. The plant is characterized by moderate vigor and late maturity; it is resistant to spring frosts and requires short pruning. There are also rare varieties of the cultivar — Mauzac rose and Mauzac noir.

Berries are white, small to medium in size, covered with a thin waxy bloom, with thin skin. Clusters are conical, dense or very dense. Wines produced from this variety possess characteristic aromas of dried apples, ripe pear, quince, melon, and honey.

The variety is sensitive to anthracnose, downy mildew, eutypa dieback, phomopsis, gray mold, and infestation by mites and European grapevine moth. It shows relative resistance to powdery mildew.
