The variety is autochthonous to the Gaillac region in southwestern France. It belongs to the mid-late maturity group, with a vegetation period lasting approximately three weeks after the Chasselas variety. Bunches and berries are of medium size; the berry skin acquires a pink or light-red hue upon ripening.
The plant is susceptible to grey mold, while possessing a certain resistance to oidium and downy mildew. Wines from this variety are characterized by moderate acidity and aromas of apples, fruits, and flowers. Upon late harvesting, the berries accumulate a high sugar level, which allows them to be used for the production of late-harvest wines and strong spirits.
