The variety is vigorous and requires careful canopy management. It is susceptible to major fungal diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold. The grape cluster stems facilitate the harvesting process, but may break off in strong winds.

The origin of the variety is linked to the natural crossing of the Gouais Blanc variety with an unknown variety. Wines produced from this grape have high aging potential due to their chemical characteristics.
