The variety possesses moderate vigor and high bud fertility. The bunches and berries are of moderate size. It is a traditional variety whose origins are linked to the island of Nisyros; it is also cultivated on the island of Tinos and in other regions of the Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.

Wines from this variety are characterized by an interesting aromatic profile, low acidity, and moderate color intensity. The variety is intended exclusively for winemaking and is found both as a varietal wine and in blends, for example, with the Mandilaria variety.
