The variety originates from the Lazio region, where it is grown in the coastal zone in the vicinity of the city of Terracina. Despite the name, it is genetically distinct from other common varieties of the Muscat group.
Leaf is medium to large, five-lobed. Bunch is medium, compact, cylindrical or pyramidal in shape. Berry is medium, round, yellow-green in color with a waxy bloom and firm skin.
The variety is of late maturity, susceptible to downy mildew and grey mold due to the compact structure of the bunch. Wines are characterized by an intense aroma with notes of roses, apricot, candied orange peel, and tropical fruits with moderate acidity.
