Variety description

The variety is ancient and of Balkan or French origin. It is a natural hybrid of the Muscat Blanc variety and an unknown species. It is used exclusively for the production of high-quality dessert and sweet wines with high sugar content and a characteristic muscat aroma.

The flower of the variety is functionally female, which requires the presence of pollinators. The leaf is pentagonal, five-lobed, with deep dissection. The cluster is medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, and prone to berry shriveling (millerandage). The berry is round, dark pink or blue-black in color, with fleshy and juicy pulp.

The variety belongs to the mid-season or mid-late maturity group. It is characterized by low and inconsistent yield. It is considered difficult to grow due to high sensitivity to fungal diseases, in particular to grey rot and sour rot, as well as moderate frost resistance.
