Variety description

10 August 2026

The Moscato group of varieties is one of the oldest among cultivated grapes and possesses a high potential for sugar accumulation. A common feature of all varieties is a bright muscat aroma, arising due to a high content of terpenes, such as linalool. Varieties of this family are characterized by a tendency to mutate, therefore the color of their berries can vary from white to pink and black.

Economic qualities and ripening periods strongly depend on the specific representative of the group. In general, classic Moscato varieties are considered demanding crops, sensitive to growing conditions and susceptible to diseases. At the same time, there are many specific varieties, such as the widely distributed Moscato Bianco or the northern Italian variety Moscato Giallo, which has a hermaphroditic flower and high yield.
