Under the name Moscatello, different plants may be implied in agronomic publications. In the Italian tradition, it is a synonym for Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, characterized by small berries and an intense muscat aroma. The name also refers to the Moscatello Selvatico variety, which is a hybrid of Bombino Bianco and Muscat of Alexandria, or serves as a synonym for Aleatico and Yellow Muscat.
All varieties in this group are wine grapes used for the production of aromatic, often dessert white wines. They are adapted to the Mediterranean climate and are valued for intensive sugar accumulation and a pronounced muscat tone in the berries, which often have a waxy bloom.
