Moscatello Selvatico is an early or mid-season ripening variety with medium vigor bushes. The leaves are medium-sized, round or wedge-shaped. The bunches are medium-sized, conical, often winged, and loose in structure. The berries are medium-small, round, golden-yellow in color, with thick skin. The yield of the variety is medium or low; it shows moderate resistance to pests and sensitivity to climatic fluctuations. The grapes are used for the production of white wines with a light Muscat aroma and high sugar content, as well as a table variety.

The name "Moscatello" may also refer to the Moscato Giallo variety with a mid-season ripening period. It is characterized by small, dense bunches and small golden-yellow berries. This variety is characterized by instability to frosts and fungal diseases. In some cases, the term was historically used as a general designation for wine made from the Moscato Bianco variety or used in the synonymy of other local Muscat varieties.
