Variety description

The variety is autochthonous to the Languedoc-Roussillon region and has been known since the 14th century. The plant is characterized by high productivity and fertility, requiring short pruning. Young shoots have heavily pubescent tips, mature leaves are round, 5–7-lobed.

Clusters are medium-sized, compact, berries are oval, medium-sized. The variety prefers a hot Mediterranean climate and adapts well to clay, sandy, and calcareous soils, however, it is sensitive to Botrytis cinerea.

Wines from this variety are distinguished by high acidity, lightness, and freshness. Citrus and floral notes, green apple hints, and a mineral background predominate in the aroma and taste.
