Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has ancient origins from the Campania region. The name originated due to the characteristic reddish color of the rachis during ripening, which visually resembles a pigeon's foot. The plant is characterized by high vigor and hermaphroditic flowers.

The bunches of the variety are medium-sized, conical or cylindro-conical, and fairly loose. The berries are medium to large in size, rounded, dark blue in color with thick skin and a heavy waxy bloom. The leaves are rounded, five-lobed, and deeply incised.

The variety belongs to the medium or early-medium maturity group. It possesses good resistance to powdery mildew, but is susceptible to downy mildew. Yields are stable. The produce is used for creating tannic wines with notes of violet, cherry, and plum, both in blends and as varietal wines.
