The vine has medium vigor, and shoots have characteristic red internodes. Leaves are rounded, five-lobed, deeply incised, with a reddish hue in young specimens and pubescence on the underside. Clusters are small, cylindrical in shape, and very dense. Berries are small, slightly oval, black in color with a thick waxy bloom.
The variety is characterized by unstable yields, with product quality decreasing at excessive volumes. The plant is sensitive to sunburn, prone to chlorosis, and susceptible to Botrytis cinerea, but shows low susceptibility to Phomopsis viticola. The productive period of the vines is considered short.
The purpose of the variety is wine production, including dry red, rosé, and sparkling variants in the Anjou, Touraine, and Saumur appellations. The wines are distinguished by lightness, freshness, light color, and aromas of raspberry, strawberry, and spices.
