Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is characterized by small bunches and small, dark black berries. It is a late-maturing variety with low yield, sensitive to drought. It is traditionally cultivated on sandy soils or chalky albariza soils, which ensure deep development of the root system.

The grapes are distinguished by moderate acidity, high sugar content, and an intense level of anthocyanins. Historically, the variety was used to create sweet fortified wines using sun-dried berries, and it is currently used for the production of dry red wines with pronounced notes of black berries, licorice, and saline minerality.
