Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is the result of a natural crossing of the Albillo Mayor and Benedicto varieties. The plant is a woody vine with large, five-lobed, deeply dissected leaves and bisexual flowers. The berries are black, round, covered with a waxy bloom, and have relatively thick skins.

Tempranillo is classified as an early or mid-season variety. It is sensitive to spring frosts and at risk of Botrytis cinerea infection, and its resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew is typical for classic Vitis vinifera varieties.

Wines from this variety have a deep ruby color. The flavor profile is characterized by notes of cherry, plum, and blackberry, which are complemented by nuances of tobacco and spices during aging.
