The group includes three varieties: Torrontes riojano, Torrontes sanjuanino, and Torrontes mendocino. The grape leaf is dark green, wedge-shaped, deeply lobed, with pubescence on the underside. Flowers are hermaphroditic. Bunches are small or medium, cylindrical-conical in shape, medium density. Berries are small, round, golden-white in color with a waxy bloom and thin skin.

The variety has high or very high yield, well adapted to drought and high altitudes. Characterized by low resistance to frost and diseases, in particular to downy mildew and Botrytis, and is also prone to berry shatter. Classified as a wine grape variety intended for the production of wines with intense aromatics.
