The variety is a natural hybrid of Touriga Nacional and Marufo. The vine has above-average vigor, leaves are small and five-lobed. The flower is hermaphroditic. Bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, compact or medium-compact. Berries are small, round, black in color, with a waxy bloom and medium-thickness skin.

The variety is characterized by high and stable yields, as well as relative resistance to fungal diseases, although susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea is possible. It requires warm, well-lit sites for sugar accumulation. It adapts well to various vine training systems.

A wine grape variety that imparts deep color, soft tannins, and moderate acidity to wines. The aroma of the wines is dominated by notes of black berries, violets, roses, rockrose, and spices. The variety is valued for its ability to add roundness and fruit intensity to blends.
