Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is native to the Amalfi Coast and the Monti Lattari area. Many vines of this variety are pre-phylloxera, own-rooted, and range in age from 120 to 300 years. The grape belongs to early-ripening varieties, is characterized by extremely low yields and high resistance to Botrytis cinerea due to the thick skin of the berries.

Morphologically, the variety is represented by small dark berries with pigmented pulp and loose clusters. Wines from Tintore are characterized by an intense "inky" color, powerful tannins, and high acidity. The aromatic profile contains notes of plum, blackcurrant, spices, graphite, ash, and forest floor. The variety is grown primarily on old terraces in the Tramonti valley.
