Late-ripening variety with moderately vigorous vine growth. The leaf is small, round, and three-lobed. The cluster is small, cylindro-conical in shape with wings, and moderately loose. Berries are medium-sized, round, golden-yellow in color with a thick skin covered in a waxy bloom, and very sweet pulp.
The name of the variety is linked to the high sugar content of the berries, which attracts wasps (vespe). The variety is considered low-maintenance and relatively resistant to major diseases. Wines from Vespaiola are characterized by high natural acidity, floral notes, hints of quince, almond, and mineral nuances.
