Various mite species from the Tetranychidae family parasitize common hazel (hazelnut), with Tetranychus urticae being the most prevalent. The presence of Tetranycopsis horridus, T. viennensis, Eotetranychus coryli, Panonychus ulmi, and Bryobia rubrioculus is also recorded on the crop.

Initial symptoms of infestation appear as small light spots on the underside of the leaf blade at the feeding sites. As the population grows, the leaves acquire a marbled or bronze hue and become covered in thin webbing, which, in cases of severe infestation, leads to wilting and premature defoliation.
