The Bor variety was bred in the Czech Republic by selecting hybrid progeny of the Northern Brewer variety using gamma irradiation of seeds. The plants have a vigorous habit, moderate foliage, and show stable yields across different years.

The hop is used in brewing for late hopping and serves as a genetic base for other Czech varieties. The aromatic profile includes earthy notes with hints of citrus and spice. The alpha-acid content is 6–9%, beta-acid 3.0–5.5%, cohumulone 22–26%, and essential oils 1.0–2.0 ml/100 g.
