The variety is late-ripening and has perfect flowers. In cultivation, it is considered temperamental, showing moderate resistance to fungal diseases and increased sensitivity to weather conditions, including a tendency for berry drop.

The purpose of the variety is primarily technical; it is used for the production of dry red or rosé wines with pronounced acidity and moderate tannins. It is often used in blends with Plavina and Babić varieties, although varietal wines are also found.

Lasina is one of the parents of the Ruzevina variety. The variety has many synonyms, such as Dlarinka, Chliiva, Kuc Mali, and Rija.
