Variety description

The variety has Italian roots and is traditionally cultivated in Tuscany. The purpose is exclusively for wine production: the variety is used in blends to provide the wine with aromatics, structure, and body. The vine is characterized by strong growth; high trellis training systems and long pruning are recommended.

The leaf is medium-large, five-lobed, rounded, with cobwebby or downy pubescence on the underside. The bunch is medium or large, cylindrical-pyramidal in shape, elongated, and of medium density. Berries are medium-sized, round, golden-straw-yellow in color, and covered with a bloom.

The ripening period is medium or medium-late. The variety possesses good resistance to drought, as well as to winter and spring frosts, however, it is sensitive to powdery mildew, botrytis, and downy mildew. The wines are characterized by a straw-yellow color, softness, and a delicate aroma, but in hot climates, the must is prone to oxidation.
