The variety belongs to the Mediterranean Malvasia family, but during the adaptation process in the Sitges region, it acquired unique characteristics. The clusters and berries are small in size, and the berry skin is thin, making the variety susceptible to Botrytis cinerea.
The variety is difficult to cultivate, has a naturally low yield, and requires specific trellis training to control excessive vegetation. It is well adapted to the climatic conditions of the coastal Penedès zone, and harvesting is often carried out in several stages to achieve optimal maturity.
It is used exclusively in winemaking. Characteristic features of the resulting wines include medium body, pronounced freshness, high acidity, and aromas of chamomile, almond blossom, rosemary, and fennel.
