The variety belongs to the Malvasia family and is characterized by a medium-late ripening period and medium vine vigor. Leaves are medium-sized, pentagonal, five-lobed. Bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical, very loose, which contributes to reduced yields.
Berries are medium-sized, ellipsoidal, black in color with a thick waxy bloom. The thick skin ensures resistance to grey mold (Botrytis cinerea). The variety exhibits the ability to withstand major diseases and adverse climatic conditions.
Wine grape variety used to create wines with an intense aroma, notes of cinnamon, dark fruits, citrus, and flowers. In blends of Malvasia di Casorzo d'Asti appellation wines, the variety must account for at least 90% of the composition.
