The variety has a medium-late maturity group. The vine is characterized by high vigor; shoots often have a brownish hue. The leaf is medium-sized, round, and five-lobed. The cluster is medium-sized, cylindrical or conical in shape, often winged, with a moderately dense or loose structure. The berry is medium-sized, spheroidal in shape, with a thin but firm greenish-yellow skin.

The variety is aromatic and is used for the production of high-quality wines, including dry, dessert, and sparkling types. It is characteristically used in the Malvasia di Bosa DOC and Cagliari DOC appellations, with the production of Malvasia di Bosa utilizing traditional aging in barrels under a yeast film.
