The Malvasia de Banyalbufar variety is a unique variety of Vitis vinifera. Historically, it was grown on terraces along the coast, however, at the end of the 19th century, its cultivation practically ceased due to the phylloxera epidemic, after which work was carried out at the end of the 20th century to create virus-free clones.

The plant is adapted to the specific climatic conditions of coastal zones. Historically, the variety demonstrated low resistance to a number of diseases, which was the reason for carrying out work to create virus-free planting material.

The variety belongs to the technical (wine) direction of use. The grapes are distinguished by high sugar accumulation, which allows obtaining wines with a high alcohol content. Currently, mainly dry white table wines with aromatic notes of jasmine, orange blossom, and stone fruits are produced from the harvest.
