Mammolo is a mid-late ripening wine grape variety originating from Italy and known since the end of the 16th century. Genetically, it is the result of a natural cross between Boggione Rosso and Uva delle Vecchie. It is encountered under the synonym Sciaccarello, which is especially common on the island of Corsica.
The plant exhibits vigorous growth and hermaphroditic flowers, and the bases of young shoots have dense pubescence. The variety is susceptible to grey mold. Its wines are characterized by a light color, moderate alcohol level, low tannin content, and a distinct violet aroma with notes of spice, coffee, and raspberry when aged.
