Istrian Malvazija is a traditional industrial crop grown in the territories of Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy. The variety is intended for the production of a wide range of white wines, including fresh, aged, and orange wines with prolonged maceration.
The plant is of mid-season to mid-late maturity. The variety is prone to high yield, which requires control of the load on the bush to maintain berry quality. It prefers well-drained soils. In terms of agronomy, the variety is susceptible to powdery mildew.
Wines from this variety possess aromas of white flowers, green apples, apricot, and peach with characteristic mineral notes, moderate acidity, and aging potential.
