The variety is a spontaneous mutation of the white grape Malvasia di Candia aromatica, characterized by the pink coloration of the berry skin. It was discovered in 1967 in the province of Piacenza, Italy.
This variety is a technical (wine) grape and is valued for the aromatic characteristics of its products. It is used to produce sparkling wines, which are distinguished by a fresh taste with fruity notes and hints of strawberry.
