The variety is a mutation of the Malvasia Aromática variety. The vines have a semi-erect growth habit. The clusters are relatively small, often loose, and pyramidal in shape. The berries are medium-sized, round, and pink in color.
In the Canary Islands, the vines are traditionally grown using the cordón trenzado system in volcanic soils. The grapes are used exclusively for wine production, which is characterized by medium body, high acidity, and notes of red berries, fruits, herbs, and spices.
Varieties of the Malvasia family are prone to gray mold infection in high-humidity conditions, and therefore require yield control. This variety should be distinguished from "Malvasia rosa," which sometimes refers to the Veltliner Frührot variety.
