The Biancolella olive variety is a rare local variety mentioned in individual municipalities of the Campania region, such as Valle dell'Angelo, Piaggine, and Laurino. Its economic value lies in its high productivity and the quality of the oil produced.
The name of the variety is associated with a specific appearance of the fruits: during the ripening period, they acquire a characteristic pale green hue before turning wine-red. In literature, there may be confusion with the more common Sicilian variety Biancolilla, which is sometimes incorrectly listed as a synonym.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
