The Chorruo variety, also known as Chorreao de Montefrío or Chorruo de Castro del Río, is a local genetic resource traditionally cultivated in the Córdoba region. The tree has a characteristic weeping growth habit.

The fruits are distinguished by a high oil content, exceeding 48% on a dry matter basis. The variety is used primarily in olive oil production, including as a component in blends for Extra Virgin products within the PDO Aceite de Lucena framework.

In scientific research, the variety is studied in the context of adaptation to soil salinity and resistance to anthracnose. The morphological characteristics of the pit of this variety are used as a reference when conducting breeding and ampelographic descriptions.
