The variety is part of the regional genetic heritage of Italy. Its fruits are characterized by the large size of the drupes and a specific coloration at maturity, during which a completely black color is not reached.
The variety is the subject of scientific research aimed at studying biodiversity and searching for resistance of olive trees to olive quick decline syndrome caused by the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. Quantitative indicators of yield and oil quality have not been established at this time.
