Apple irrigation is a differentiated process of managing soil moisture, aligned with the phenological phases of tree development to ensure fruit filling and increase winter hardiness.

The apple irrigation schedule is based on maintaining pre-irrigation soil moisture in the 0.8 m calculated layer at 80% of field capacity (FC) during the early vegetation and fruit-filling periods, with a short-term reduction to 70% of FC during flowering. An important technological element is the pre-winter irrigation in the autumn period, which creates a water reserve for successful overwintering.

In intensive orchards, the use of drip irrigation and fertigation is recommended, allowing for the delivery of nutrients directly to the root zone. Deep soil moistening to 0.8 m encourages the root system to grow deeper, which increases tree stability, whereas excessive waterlogging is unacceptable due to the risk of root rot and a decrease in the crop's overall immunity.
